Genesis 4: Where did the human population come from?

Postby Antidote to God » Tue Jun 26, 2018 4:20 pm

Did Adam and Eve's children just keep f***ing eachother until there was a human population?

God creates two people. They have kids. Their kids f*** eachother and have incestuous children. This goes on until enough incestuous grand children are around to establish a human population.

This is f***ed up, god made sisters and brothers f*** eachother. Couldn't the man just have popped a couple of humans around the planet instead of being such a creepy dude?

What's your interpretation?

Well, my interpretation is different from yours. There is reason to believe that Adam and Eve were not necessarily the first or the only hominids, just a pair chosen out for a specific role and task. There were most likely many homo sapiens around for reproduction and to establish a human population.

You'll notice in Genesis 2.15 that God "took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden..." Took him from where? We can discuss this further, but it's very possible that He took him out from among the other homo sapiens.

You'll then notice in Genesis 4.17 that Cain got married and moved to a city. There are pretty noticeable clues that there are other people around.

So maybe it's both rash and false to just assume "this is f***ed up, god made sisters and brothers f*** each other." Possibly some discussion about what happened would be wiser than starting with a false conclusion ("the man...such a creepy dude"). Maybe you'd like to talk about the interpretation of Genesis where there are more than 2 humans on the planet. Let's talk.
