It makes perfect sense. For this part of my explanation, I'll go forward assuming there's a God. (If there is no God, that's a different discussion altogether.) Anything God makes (duh, creation) cannot be more than what God is. Obviously, God must be superior to all of it. If there is no plurality within God's being, then there is no subject-object relationship possible for humans. And no particularity in creation. Everything is, by necessity, a singularity because God himself is monadic. In such a view of God there can be no foundation for knowledge, love, morality, or ethics. There is no possible diversity of distinction basic to reality: ultimate reality is necessarily a bare unity about which nothing may be said. This is why the Trinity is essential. Without the trinity, creation is impossible, humanity is impossible, personality is impossible, diversity, knowledge, and reason are impossible. As I said, if God is singular, there is no distinction basic to reality. The idea that Jesus is God makes perfect sense.
