It sounds like you may be not understanding this correctly. God didn't HAVE a Son. God IS a Father, a Son, and a Spirit.

He had to die because it was the only way to conquer death. The only way to escape from prison is to be in the prison. The only way to conquer a city is to enter the city. The only way to conquer death was to enter death and then break its hold.
