Re: When is the Sabbath?

It's Saturday.

The biblical account doesn't give names for days. The Sabbath was honored every 7th day. There is no evidence it was ever recognized before the time of Moses, but in that time it was the 7th day of the week (Ex. 20.10). Later, when labels were assigned to days, it was always celebrated on Saturday.

> Some people say it's based on the lunar calendar

The lunar calendar affects how months are measured, but not how weeks are measured. It has nothing to do with which day was the Sabbath. Israel’s Sabbath was not celebrated on certain days of the month and was not linked to the cycles of the moon or to any other cycle of nature; it was simply observed every seventh day.

The New Testament never changed which day was the Sabbath. Christians worshipped on Sunday, which was called the Lord's Day.

When is the Sabbath?

I'm Curious when do people think the Sabbath is. Some people say Saturday or Sunday because that's when the week ends. Some people say it's based on the lunar calendar because that's what we used to go off of. So what is it?
