I can talk about them briefly, but if you have a specific question about them, that would be helpful to give me a direction and a focus for what confuses you. The Father and the Son are the same essence, but differ in what role they play. The Father sends the Son (Jn. 3.16), and since the Son is the same essence as the Father (Jn. 10.30), whatever the Father wants is also what the Son wants. Those who believeThey are both identical in their desires. The Son never acts on solely His own power, but only by the power of all the Godhead together (Jn. 5.17, 19). They are all (Father, Son, Spirit) in perfect harmony. None of them ever act alone, because they are all one. Jesus, on Earth, is the perfect representation of the Father (Hebrews 1.3).

Just so I don't prattle on in a different direction than your question, what is it that confuses you? And, I guess, what about these two verses makes you question the reliability of the Gospels?

John 3:16 and John 5:30 kind of confuse me

No. There's no evidence against any of the four. They're all totally reliable, as far as any evidence is concerned.

Are some more reliable than others?

They are proven to be accurate on every count where we are able to confirm. No archaeological discovery has ever been made that shows any part of them to be wrong or false. I consider them to be accurate, and there is no evidence of corruption. If you're genuinely curious, let's talk some more.
