The Bible doesn't specify or require a specific type of burial, but only that the dead body be treated with dignity. In ancient Israel, burial was their tradition, but the Bible doesn't command or require burial. You say that some believe cremation defiles the body, but that's not a point the Bible makes. This is one of those decisions that is left up to an individual to make a decision they and their family are comfortable with.

We are in the process of preparing our wills and personal directives and we are wondering what scripture says about burial and cremation. We have no personal preference, but we see conflicting rationale for not cremating because it defiles the body. Any help would be great. Thanks
