He created it to serve as His temple, to reveal Himself to humans and to be an appropriate reflection of His power, majesty, and glory. Other gods had temples made by humans. But those are woefully inadequate to represent the real God, so He made His own temple: the universe (Isaiah 66.1; Ps. 19.1).

The only answer I can find is "for His glory." Why would an all perfect, all powerfull being need glory? Especially when it causes the suffering of so much of his creation?
