I believe El Elyon and YHWH are the same being. In the OT the term Elyon is usually used as an epithet for Yahweh (Num. 24.16; 1 Sam. 2.10; 2 Sam. 22.14; 23.1; Ps. 7.8, 10, 17; 9.2; 21.7; 46.4; 47.2; 50.14; 57.2; 73.11; 77.10; 78.17, 35, 56; 83.18; 87.5; 91.1,9; 92.1; 97.9; 107.11; Lam. 3.35, 38; Dan. 3.26; 4.2, 17, 25, 32, 34; 5.18, 21; 7.18, 22, 25; Hos. 7.16).

What is your stand on Deuteronomy 32 8-9 ? Do you believe that El Elyon and YHWH are the same or different ? Does this verse lend credibility to the Gnostic worldview ?

People who believe that the Most High and the God of Israel are the same, what is your reasoning ? hoping to hear from the other side of the spectrum too.

For those believing in the Gnostic view, why does the Messiah accept the name Yehoshua/ Yeshua if that is indeed the case ?
