Can someone explain the story of Solomon and the shulamite woman?

I’ve read many interpretations that Solomon and the woman were married, that she was his first wife and later on he acquired the rest of his wives and concubines. Another interpretation that it was just an illicit affair between the two. Another is that it was all made up from the woman’s perspective and her imagination. My question is did they marry and lose interest over time?

Who she is, what the situation is, or whether it was even Solomon is much debated. Yes, his name is invoked here; he should therefore be seen as an authority figure connected in some way to the composition. It is difficult to say more beyond that.
