Do Demons have less physical power than Angels

Postby Ok with Pain » Sat Sep 04, 2021 12:35 pm

I know this is probably a stupid question but when Angels became Demons, did they lose some of their powers cause they can’t come to us and hurt us unless we give them an opportunity, and they can’t just possess us out of know where, so did they lose some of their powers cause they lost their power to become human after the flood because of what they did with the women and then having kids/nephilim, so would of God limited what they can do to us.

Well, it depends what you mean. Demons, in the Gospel, mostly have the power to create physical and mental chaos, mostly in the form of what comes across as madness, or even displayed as some type of seizure. That seems to be the only power they have. If you look at the power of angels through the Old Testament and especially in the book of Revelation, angelic power is of a completely different sort, and is certainly greater than anything a demon ever displays.

> when Angels became Demons,

You're off on a bad foot here. There is no biblical teaching that angels became demons. Demons are a different sort of spirit being. Demons are never called angels, associated with angels, or said to have once been angels.

> cause they can’t come to us and hurt us unless we give them an opportunity, and they can’t just possess us out of know where

You're dipping into cultural traditions and Hollywood stuff here. The Bible never explains how a demon can come to possess a person or what condition allow that possession. Whether they can possess out of nowhere or only if we give them opportunity is never mentioned in the Bible, so your ideas about such things are coming from elsewhere.

> cause they lost their power to become human after the flood

Now you're REALLY launching into fantasy. Where in the world does this thought come from?

> because of what they did with the women and then having kids/nephilim

There is NO association of demons with the nephilim in Scripture. The Nephilim, as Gn. 6.4 says, are mighty men, warriors of the time. The Nephilim aren't even associated with the weirdness in Genesis 6.1-2. But there's CERTAINLY no connection of the Nephilim with demons.

Let's talk some more.
