What makes Ouija boards so special that demonic contact can actually happen through them?

There's nothing special about them. It's the verbal invite to communicate with a spirit that counts. Same goes with seances. It's impossible to communicate with the dead, but since one is inviting spiritual activity, a demon answers the call. You could get down on your knees before bedtime and pray for a demon to enter you, or for the devil to give you a nightmare and the invite would be honored.

Ouija boards are nothing special, it's just a tool. Any occult ritual that has an invite will work.
