What is Christianity

Christianity makes you immoral

Postby Historian » Mon Nov 12, 2018 2:50 pm

We often listen to Christians who say that atheists are immoral because there is no moralality without divinde definition of good and evil. But I say it's the opposite - it is christianity that makes you immoral. Here's why:

1. Christianity teaches you that the world is an evil place controlled by Satan and therefore Christians should not be of it.

2. Christianity teaches you that you can do whatever you like as long as you accept Jesus Chrsist as your Saviour.

3. Christianity teaches you that Heaven is only for Christians. Some denominations like the Orthodox, the Catholic and some other churches believe that salvation is only for their followers and all other people go to hell. When you learn from a young age that most people you see are doomed you become indifferent toward their problems.

4. Christianity teaches that it's better to be murderer than an atheist because unbelief is the greatest sin. Blind faith is more important than ethics. That's why most criminals are believers.

You are wrong on 3.5 of your 4 points.

1. Is partially correct. The world is not an evil place. Some people are evil. But you're right that we should not be controlled by a secular worldview or a godless mindset.

2. Totally wrong. We may not do whatever we like. The New Testament is full of ethical teachings like forgive people, be careful of your anger, don't lust, don't speak poorly of people, and a thousand other things. We are expected to be Godlike, not autonomous agents who can do whatever we want as long as we have accepted Jesus.

3. Is partially correct. Heaven is only for people who have the nature of Jesus in side of them. But learning that the people around us are doomed motivates us to care even more, not to become indifferent to their problems. We are never supposed to be indifferent to the problems of others, whether physical or spiritual.

4. Is incorrect. Some sins are worse than others but we are not given the hierarchical list. Being a murderer is sin. There is no such thing as "blind faith" in biblical Christianity. All faith is evidentiary. And wherever you got the idea that most criminals are believers is beyond me.

Therefore Christianity doesn't make you immoral. Ignoring God doesn't make you immoral either. Only acting immorally makes you immoral.
