Why did the angel tell John to not seal up the words of the prophecy?

Revelation 22:10 Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near."

Sealed documents were to be kept confidential. This prophecy, in contrast, is not meant to be concealed, but instead made known. The book was to be left open for all to read, so anyone from his generation or any future generations could read and understand it.
