Hello there. I am very one the fence about my faith. I can’t tell if I believe in god or if I don’t. I thought I would bring a few of the reasons why for both.

I’ll start with my problems with Christianity.

1. The Bible: The basis of the Christian religion is the Bible. If the Bible isn’t true non of it is, and that just feels weird to me. Like the Bible confirms gods existence, who in turn wrote the Bible and confirms it is truth. Like... what? Besides the Bible what else you got?

2. Hypocrites: As someone who grew up in the church the amount of HATRED those people have is insane. They teach love and kindness and show non of it. That seems wrong to me.

3. God After I ask the question of “is god real” I then have to ask “if so is he a good god, one that I should worship.” God, from my past experiences, does not seem like the type of god I want to serve, even if he is real.

Alright now onto atheism

Where does our morality come from? I’m not saying I believe it comes from religion, but if not that, then where?

What if I’m wrong? At least with Christianity i could be right and go to heaven forever.

Who wrote the Bible? God was its source material, written through human agency. Who confirms its truth? Lots of things: (1) conformity with reality, (2) accuracy of content, (3) whether it's a faithful moral guide, (4) whether it contributes to good, (4) accurate expression of the human condition, and (5) whether its theological claims are worthy of deity and true to what people experience. Besides the Bible, what else do we have? Reasoning ability that confirms the logic of theism, science that confirms the logic of theism, history and archaeology that confirm the accuracy of the biblical record, whether the Bible truthfully addresses the condition of humanity, and our reasoning ability.

Yeah, there are plenty of hypocrites in the church. But there are plenty in business, education, politics, Hollywood, and everywhere else. Hypocrisy is a plague of our age, and most certainly not limited to Christianity.

Yes, He is. If you have doubts about that, I would guess you've been fed some lies about what God is like and what the Bible says, and you are rejecting God for the wrong reasons.
