Isaiah 53:8

Postby Fascist Jew » Tue Aug 02, 2022 10:34 am

The Christians have made a lying translation of this verse, with no basis in the Hebrew text. The Hebrew and proper English translation follows. Compare it with your Christian bibles.

מֵעֹצֶר וּמִמִּשְׁפָּט לֻקָּח, וְאֶת-דּוֹרוֹ מִי יְשׂוֹחֵחַ: כִּי נִגְזַר מֵאֶרֶץ חַיִּים, מִפֶּשַׁע עַמִּי נֶגַע לָמוֹ.

"By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and with his generation who did reason? for he was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due."

Why did the Christian translators add words and phrases? They accused of not studying it, when it's the who cannot even read Hebrew to study anything in the Tanakh.

So, let's parse it out and discuss it.

“By” – מֵ… Causal. "Because of." The ground and cause of the taking away.

“Oppression” – מֵעֹצֶר. "Restraint; coercion; violent constraint (a persecuting treatment that restrains by outward force, such as prison or bonds); oppression."

“and judgment” – וּמִמִּשְׁפָּט. "Justice; judgment; legal processes; judicial proceedings; verdicts given in a legal context; the embodiment of righteous principles."

"he was taken away" – לֻקָּח. "Be taken away; removed; be snatched or hurried away."

“And” – וְאֶת. Conjunction with a direct object indicator

“who” – מִי. "Who."

"can speak" – יְשׂוֹחֵחַ. Polel form. “Consider; muse; contemplate; meditate; think of deliberately.”

"of his descendants" – דּוֹרוֹ. "Period; generation; age; the period of time between the birth of a father and a son."

"For" – כִּי. Explanatory

“he was cut off” – נִגְזַר "Cut off; separated; excluded."

“from the land of the living” – חַיִּים מֵאֶרֶץ.

“for” – מִ

“the transgression of” – מִפֶּשַׁע. “Transgression; rebellion; guilt.”

"my people" – עַמִּי. “Nation; people; kinsmen.” Synonymous with "us."

“he was stricken” – לָמוֹ נֶגַע “The stroke was to him.” “Blow; stroke; suffering (as a calamity proceeding from God).”

My translation? "Because of oppression and court conviction he was taken away, and who can contemplate his descendants [when there will be none]. For he was cast out as one unfit to live. Calamity came upon him for our rebellion and guilt."

So, let's talk. Where have Christian translations lied and added?

ESV: By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?

NASB: By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off from the land of the living For the wrongdoing of my people, to whom the blow was due?

NIV: By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.
