Romans 8:5-6. Please explain

Postby 1 Cor 13 » Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:59 am

Romans 8:5-6. What pleases God's Spirit? And how do we allow our minds to be controlled by His Spirit?

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Romans 8:5‭-‬6 NLT

What pleases the Spirit is a heart tuned to Christ, who lives in Christ and walks in the Spirit. It means hungering and thirsting after righteousness, seeking first the kingdom of God, and desires what God desires.

> how do we allow our minds to be controlled by His Spirit?

1. Submit to God every day in all ways. James 4.7
2. Train our minds to think in God's ways rather than human ways. (Rom. 12.2)
3. Put away sin, and refuse to walk in it any more. (Rom. 6)
4. Depend on God to give us understanding (Ps. 119.130; Jn. 16.13)
