If God did create our universe then wouldn't our universe be technically the scripture and science be our worship of it?

If I'm remembering right, it was Galileo who said, "God gave us two books: Nature and Scripture."

The Bible is the Word of God; nature is the works of God. Romans 1.20 says God's qualities can be seen in nature, so science is important. Genesis 1.28 says we should rule and subdue the Earth, so science is important. Psalm 19.1 says the heavens declare the glory of God, so the study of science enhances our knowledge of the majesty of God.

The natural world is nowhere identified as our Scripture in the Bible. The natural world is considered to be general elevation—the revelation of all God to all people everywhere. The Bible is identified as Scripture—the special revelation of God to those who read it, containing information it's impossible to glean from the natural world.

So it's not true that the universe is technically our Scripture, though I do believe, along with Galileo, that's a word of God to us and a revelation of God to us. Nor is science to be our worship of it. Science is a window of knowledge that teaches us amazing things; it also gives us understanding so we can be good stewards of the planet; it also leads us to appreciate the glory, majesty, beauty and brilliance of God.
