People are born Muslim or born Hindu, but no one is born a Christian. Christianity is a decision that each person must make (a concept that most Muslims and Hindus don’t grasp well). So because people have to decide to become Christians, they usually have to have certain ideas explained to them, and they have to agree to those ideas and decide they want to follow Jesus, love Him, and obey Him. When we walk someone through those steps, so to speak, and they make the decision to receive Christ in their hearts, then we have led that person to Jesus.
You’re right that we are supposed to be point the way to Christ, but not only by our lives, though that’s important. We also have to use words. There are just some parts of being a Christian (something like “Jesus is God”) that are better conveyed by words and explanation than just by the way we live.
