Selassie himself denied that he was God. Even in Rastafarianism, there are no universally recognized leaders and not even any agreed-on life principles. Selassie, whose given name was Ras Tafari, claimed to be a descendant of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. But despite the divinity thrust on him by Rastas, Selassie, according to Christafari's Mark Mohr, didn't call himself the messiah. "Selassie was a godly man," Mohr asserts, "and if people would truly follow his teachings, they would come to Christ." But while Rastas and Christians have much in common, Rastafarian exaltation of Haile Selassie as God poses a barrier, since the Bible teaches that such reverence is due only to Yahweh himself.
We can safely say that Selassie was not Jesus returned to Earth.
And there are no other candidates for possible Jesus return. When Jesus returns, it was be Jesus, not someone else or another name, and it will be obvious that it's Jesus. There will be no doubts.
