“Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense.” It’s not what goes into a man that defines him, but what comes out. If you have wisdom inside, you’ll show that wisdom in words and action. But if you’re a fool, it’ll show. People who make a lot of mistakes suffer the consequences of them. Your suffering is not always the Lord disciplining you, and it’s not always Satan after you. Sometimes it’s just the consequences of your own poor decisions.
The proverb is that a person of character will live out that character, but a person lacking character will pay the price for their lack of it.
